Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to chat with us. I guess we’re lucky we caught you during winter break.
So before we start, I’m confused what name do you go by? Is it Jessica Meechie, Jessica C, Angelyca? Do you have an alter ego? What’s with all the names?
LOL! Jessica C. is my original name. The C stands for cutie, just kidding! (: Meechie G Top Model was part of a networking agreement with Meechie’s Top Models on MySpace. All publicity is good publicity right? And lastly, Angelyca was a nickname my Aunt gave to me. So to answer your questions, no alter ego here. HEHE!
Ok so now that we got that out of the way tell us how you got started in modeling.
Well I did my first Import Show with a friend after High School. He asked me to be one of his models. I had a blast but didn’t really do anything after that. In 2007 I started an account on OneModelPlace and got tons of responses. After doing a few shoots, I got my big break with a Photographer in Detroit, MI. His pictures made my whole portfolio and it has taken off from there!
You stay in Raleigh, NC. Have you been there all your life?
Actually I just moved to Raleigh for school about a year ago for school. I have been living in North Carolina for about a total of four years. Before that I lived in Michigan with family. (:
Most models are based out of LA, NY or FL do you find it hard finding work in as a NC model?
Extremely hard to work out of NC! I have found only little jobs so far. I usually have to travel outside to get good jobs, which I am doing more of. I am planning to visit New York in March and hoping to travel to Florida sometime this year. Watch out for me!
Besides the Wright Brothers and you, what else is NC famous for?
Errr, I honestly have no idea. ): I guess I haven’t learned enough about NC history. Sorry! Although, I grew up in Michigan which was known as the “Motor Capital”. I think.
You have a cool picture on your MySpace that’s of you taking a picture of one of your flyers/posters outside of a store. Just curious , did you get any strange looks when you were taking that photo?
LOL! No. No one was there. I was so super excited when I saw it! I actually wasn’t dressed up at all when I took it. I doubt anyone would recognize me even if they were there. HEHE! Friends did stop by to tell me that they saw me on the flyer which was fun! (:
Have you ever been recognized, for umm ...being you :D?
HAHA! I usually attend the North Carolina Hmong Tournaments and New Year and I get recognized there, sometimes. Other than that, not really. I guess I have been good at keeping my identity a secret. LOL!
I see that you are happily married. I’m sure that doesn’t stop guys from trying to holla at ya.
LOL! I actually don’t get that many personal comments out on the street. The only comments I get are online, usually in the form of an email. HEHE. People I meet from the import shows I usually have to go up and talk to (as part of the job). I think they get a little scared at first. Maybe they think I bite. LOL! So the next time you see me, stop by and say “hi”! (:
So tell us some of the dumbest lines you’ve heard?
“Wouldn’t we look cute on a wedding cake together?” -freaked me out!
Have you heard any good ones?
My favorite is “if I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together” because it is too sweet!
So besides getting a 4.0 this spring semester :D What else can we look forward to Jessica accomplishing? Any magazines, shows, etc?
HEHE! The 4.0 is only a goal. I haven’t been the straight A student yet but here’s hoping! LOL! Besides that I am traveling A LOT this year! I plan on traveling up the East Coast this Spring Break to visit New York! I am super excited about it! I also am going to be stopping by Atlanta for a few photo shoots and events. Prepare to see A LOT of me! I also hope to get the opportunity to visit Florida and California! There is so much! I am also looking to get published, but of course, that is a long term goal. (:

Being a booker is a tough job - the base salary is very low and most of your income comes from your commission. If you can’t get a lot of high paying jobs for your models, you won’t eat. An editorial shoot for a new face might only pay $300-500 so your commission would be $30-50. But if you can book one of your models a $1 million Estee Lauder contract, you get $100K just for that one job.
Jessica is a freind of mine, she is a beautiful person inside and out. I believe she will go a long ways in the modeling business. She also is very smart and has goals in her life. I wish her all the best in whatever she does.
